AppSumo Company Retreat 2024
Tonight is a beautiful night at Hotel Xcaret Arte, where I’ve stayed for the past week as part of AppSumo’s annual company retreat. This vacation has been relaxing, rewarding, exciting, and sobering toward the end since I will be transitioning away from AppSumo in 2025. I have loved this team, AppSumo, and the company’s mission of supporting entrepreneurship around the world. I’ll miss the job and the company and have reflected a lot this week on how much I’ve learned over the past three and a half years. The lessons have been innumerable. I’ve grown so much and have had a ton of fun along the way!
Most people wouldn’t know that my original major in college was entrepreneurship. I chose this due to my lifelong love of business and dream of building my own successful company. As I progressed through school, I switched to information science since it nurtured my other love of technology and helped me build hard skills (data analysis, database management, software development, etc.) that are more directly applicable to high-paying jobs. That said, I still have the same love of business and startups. With its emphasis on empowering and supporting entrepreneurs, AppSumo has been like an entrepreneurship major that I got paid for!
I am truly grateful to have joined this team and for the memories I’ve made here. My experience at AppSumo has shaped me in a really positive way and the lessons will stick with me for the rest of my life and career.
